Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, the suspect, was taken into custody on Monday morning as part of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations’ (DCI) continued and unrelenting efforts to bring the victims’ killers to justice.
Khalusha was detained at three in the morning outside a bar in the Soweto neighborhood of Nairobi, where he had gone to watch the England vs. Spain football match for the 2024 Euro Championship.
The suspect was narrowed down by investigators using forensic examination of a mobile money account that belonged to Josphine Mulongo Owino, one of the victims, DCI chief Mohamed Amin told reporters in Nairobi. The suspect was linked to mobile money transactions made on the day she vanished.
When the suspect was apprehended, he took police to his one-room rental home in Kware, which was around 100 meters from the murder site where corpses and other severed body parts were found.
Important exhibits, such as a machete and six Kenyan national identity cards for males and two for women, were found during a search of the premises.
A laptop, eight smartphones, 24 fresh SIM cards, nylon bags, a pair of rubber gloves, a nylon rope, a pair of underwear, and a female purse were among the other goods found at the suspect’s home.
The suspect gave the detectives a terrifying confession during questioning about how, between July 11, 2024, and 2022, he seduced, murdered, and dumped 42 female bodies—including his wife’s—at the Kware dump.
Amin stated, “The suspect claims that he killed his wife, Imelda Judith Khalenya, by strangulation, then dismembered her body and disposed of it at the scene.
Khalusha claimed to investigators that he murdered his wife because she had twice wasted the money he had given her to launch a company.
He disclosed to us that he had founded two businesses for his first wife in 2022 and 2023, but she had failed both times. He tore her to pieces out of resentment and threw her at the quarry. Additional inquiries are still underway, Amid sta
It’s also thought that the guy sexually abused his victims.
“From what he told us, it seems that he is a person who is full of anger and revenge, and he had a specific fascination for attractive ladies. We are dealing with a serial murderer who has no regard for human life whatsoever. Amin stated, “He admitted to us that he had intimate relations with a few of the victims.
According to what the police previously stated, all nine of the bodies found at the disposal site exhibited comparable injuries, suggesting that the victims had all been slain in a similar way. Sacks have been used to wrap the bodies.
While the killings are still being investigated, families who have missing relatives have been asked to contact the authorities.
“We think he wasn’t acting alone, so we’re going to be arresting more people,” Amin said.
