Striker Cristiano Ronaldo has made history in the Saudi Arabian Premier League by scoring the most goals in a single season. The 39-year-old football star netted two goals in a match against Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad, bringing his total for the season to an impressive 35 goals.
This achievement surpasses the previous record set by Abderrazak Hamdallah, who scored 34 goals during the 2018/19 season. Notably, Hamdallah also played for Al-Nassr, the team that faced defeat against Ronaldo’s remarkable performance in four separate games.
Since joining Al-Nassr from Manchester United in January 2023, Ronaldo has showcased his scoring prowess with 64 goals in 69 appearances across all competitions.
Despite Al-Nassr’s recent victory securing them a second-place finish in the league, trailing 14 points behind champions Al-Hilal, they maintained a comfortable lead of 17 points over third-placed Al-Ahli.
Ronaldo’s illustrious career spans over 22 years, during which he has scored an incredible 765 goals while representing clubs like Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus.
Moreover, Ronaldo holds the prestigious title of Portugal’s all-time leading goal scorer, having netted 128 goals in 206 appearances for his national team.
As the football season progresses, all eyes are on Ronaldo as he prepares to represent Portugal in the upcoming European Championship held in Germany from 14th June to 14th July 2024.
