Today, Real Madrid won 2-1 against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League. But it wasn’t easy. Bayern scored first. At the 68th minute, Alphonso Davies scored for Bayern, making it 3-2 on aggregate. Real Madrid got tense. Then, at the 73rd minute, Nacho scored what looked like a goal, but VAR said no. This stressed out Carlo Ancelotti, who had to find a way to win.
In that moment, Carlo Ancelotti really showed why people think he’s one of the best coaches ever. It surprised a lot of big Real Madrid fans. About 81 minutes into the game, when things were really tense, Ancelotti did something unexpected. He took out some of the main players, the ones Real Madrid really counts on, and put in others who maybe haven’t been doing so well lately, or aren’t big names in football. It was a big risk, but it worked out and helped Real Madrid win the game.
At the 81st minute, Carlo Ancelotti made a surprising move, taking out Rodrygo, who plays up front, and putting in Brahim Diaz, a midfielder. He also swapped Federico Valverde, another midfielder, with Joselu, a striker. Lots of people started thinking Ancelotti messed up, but then he quickly turned things around, showing everyone his magic.
Those two new players made a big difference really fast. Just 7 minutes after they came on, the striker nobody knew about before became a star, scoring Real Madrid’s first goal. That changed everything. By the 88th minute, the score was tied at 3-3 overall. But then, in just 3 minutes, Bayern Munich fans were crying again because of Joselu. They were so sad that it seemed like their tears were washing Joselu’s feet as he scored the second goal in the 91st minute. That meant Bayern had to say goodbye to the Champions League this year.
The refs said there would be 9 more minutes after the game’s normal 90 minutes, but it turned into 15. During those extra minutes, Camavinga got a yellow card in the 11th minute. Then, right before the game ended, Bayern Munich scored what seemed like their second goal. But VAR checked it and said it didn’t count because of an offside.
